Commemoration Services - The Iolani Raiders Boosters Club is once again hosting a celebration of the lives of One Team icons Fr. Bray and Coach Hamada at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on
the grounds of Fr. Bray’s former home. Members of the Iolani community are welcome to attend along with their family and friends. Please do RSVP so that we can
assure sufficient refreshments afterward by emailing email@example.com or by calling (808) 432-9304.
Ronald Oba ’42 - Ron was called to rejoin Fr. Bray and his “Boys’. He was the
author of the book "The Ol’ Man" and graciously allowed its use in the making of the One Team documentary, contributed to its making and even appearing in it to share his memories and experiences.
Community Partners – In working toward its Mission of perpetuating One Team and its Vision of One Team spreading throughout the community, your Iolani Raiders Boosters Club (IRBC)
has embarked on a trial program to partner with organizations in the community, for those purposes. These organizations would be those who have knowledge of, and have demonstrated support
of and actions in accordance with One Team principles. The organization should have a One Team culture in its routine operation.
The pilot organization for this new initiative is a new volleyball club whose members have been taught One Team by their coach and have supported the Boosters Club’s commemoration
services for three years. Like Fr. Bray’s Teams, the members of this new club are small in stature but they play as a Team and have had great success together, while competing with
sportsmanship and remaining respectful of their opponents. Fittingly, this new club has chosen Huikahi as its name – One Team.
Partnering with such community organizations which help to perpetuate One Team will afford the Boosters Club renewed opportunities to increase knowledge of One Team through mentoring and
use of its award winning One Team Documentary and will increase support of its projects. Partner organizations benefit from available mentoring and becoming part of the Boosters Club’s
organization with available insurance and accounting help.
The partnership of the IRBC and Huikahi Volleyball Club will serve as the trial period to work out any kinks and to develop additional guidelines as needed. It is envisioned that
other organizations may apply for partnership in the coming years.
